In our last Lunch and Learn, we welcomed Ron O’Brien of Cetera Advisor Networks LLC to present an overview of our newest tool, AdviceWorks, followed by a review of some of our other digital platforms by Lauren Erickson, CFP. Below is a brief synopsis of the tools at work and what they can do for you.
Let’s be honest, having an endless amount of information at our fingertips might sound amazing but as more digital platforms get added to our lives it can get a bit overwhelming. However, as we move deeper into the 21st Century, we still strive to make the complex simple for our clients, and utilizing digital tools can make all the difference.
Depending on your needs, you may use one or none of the digital platforms we offer for sharing documents, checking account values, or communicating with the team at Erickson Advisors. Our goal is to help you find the available information you want and need in the simplest way possible.

DIGITAL TOOLS & CLIENT LOG IN
AdviceWorks is a new Cetera platform for sharing documents and accessing your Advisory Accounts (Pershing)
- Enrollment: You need 2 things
- A valid email address
- A text capable cell phone # (due to 2-factor authentication)
- You will receive an email from Erickson inviting you to enroll. Simply follow the steps, using your email as your User ID and create a password.
- Keep your cell phone handy to receive the 2-factor authorization code. This is a 2-factor
- Documents
- Shared repository with your Advisor
- Private repository – only you can see.
- Investment Account Access (Advisory/Pershing accounts only)
- Statements
- Trade notifications
- Tax documents (up to 10 years)
- Advisory Quarterly Statements.
- Link Accounts (non-Pershing)
- Depending on how robustly you decide to use this platform, linking accounts is entirely up to you.
- E-Signature
- Talk about simple! When and if you need to sign account paperwork, depending on the type of account, we can now do it virtually through AdviceWorks even if you do not have an active Adviceworks dashboard.
- On receiving an email notification that you have been sent paperwork from Erickson, simply follow the prompts to review the document, disclosures, and follow the e-sign instructions.
- E-sign allows you to choose a signature with a generated font or you can draw your signature using your mouse.
- Submit and that is it!
- AdviceWorks Mobile – There’s an App! Give us a call and we can walk you through adding it to your home screen on your tablet or mobile phone.
Locked Out? Unfortunately, the staff at Erickson cannot unlock your account. You must call Cetera Customer Service #888-443-6380. They have the A-Team ready to get you back on track.
- Registration
- Create a user ID and password with a valid email address. A confirmation email will be sent to you, click the link to complete the process. On your first log-in you will be prompted to change your password; after this, you can set your account security details.
- You can register on your own at netxinvestor.com as long as you have the first three characters of your account number and the Financial Organization # 157
- Why NetX?
- NetX Investor is the client-facing version of our trading platform.
- Here you can view a comprehensive summary of your accounts, a detailed summary of holdings, account history and statements and reports.
- Electronic Delivery
- We recommend choosing e-Delivery for all statements EXCEPT TAX DOCUMENTS which are sent on a schedule from January through March each year.
- Paper statements currently cost $1.50/each and e-delivery is free and great for the Earth!
- The more you know…
- On NetX Investor you CAN view your account values in real-time. Interesting for stock holdings.
- NetX Investor is NOT a performance report – it shows transaction activity only.
- You CAN combine all the family’s accounts under one log-in
- You CANNOT trade your own holdings yourself or move assets between accounts or withdraw funds.
- Monthly account statements are ONLY issued on accounts that have had activity, such as a brokerage transaction or withdrawal.
- Go Mobile! – Search NetX Investor™ Mobile in the app store to download and log-in.

- Access your Personal Financial Planning website, a tool for planning work and where you can see your financial plan mapped out.
- Link “outside” accounts which will be updated nightly on your personal dashboard.

To set up a connection – Accept a text request to connect from Lauren Erickson and you can text directly with your advisor and our staff.
- Texts appear to come from our Greensboro office number; however they are part of a platform that allows Linda, Lauren and Emily access to communication with you.
- This is a compliant and secure texting platform that is monitored by Cetera.
- This is the only way our team is allowed to text with our clients.
What you can expect from Erickson Advisors
- Email from your advisor or Erickson staff – we all use our first name, first letter of our last name with the URL erickson.flywheelsites.com
- Event invitations, general newsletters and Quarterly Comments are sent through Mailchimp; the sender will appear as a staff member of Erickson Advisors. Psst. Not on our list? You can sign up below.
- For some Cetera special events and emailed communication, the sender will appear as: [email protected] > On Behalf of Erickson Advisors
- We don’t ever want to overwhelm your inbox with email – If you need less, we get it. Just give us a call or send an email and let us know what you would and would not like to receive.
